Idol Factories Introduction Human beings are made in God’s image and we were made to worship Him. But in our sin, we rebel and worship other things (money, food, sex) instead of the God Who gave those things to us. Why do we rebel against God and why do we give our lives to pursuing what we want at all costs? Saul, a Type of Me Saul, the first king of Israel, disobeyed God because of his pride and the root of his pride was his idolatry of himself. He thought his way was better than God’s way. It didn't matter that God had given him clear instructions. Saul thought he knew better or at the very least he thought God would understand. Many people today, including Christians, don’t obey God in the simple ways we ought to because, like Saul, we have idolatrous hearts. We worship ourselves. But what most people come to realize is that in the end, like stone idols, our idolatrous hearts are cold, hard, and lifeless. Pleasure and self-fulfillment have their limits. In the final analysis,
